The idea that everything in the world is, living, breathing and, in fact, sentient has prevailed in indigenous cultures for thousands of years. This used to be how we saw the world before we started dominating our surroundings, thus stripping it of its sacredness. That humble sense of equal spiritual footing has been replaced by a new system of belief that works to justify the atrocious ways in which we ravage the world for resources in an effort to further our goals as a humanity, separate from the waters, soil and rock that makes up our very bodies. Our delusions have brought us to the point where we deny this presence even as it talks back to us directly in our own language.
